The Tableaux range has been fuelled mainly by my fascination for rock pools. Over the years my photos of the pools have changed from close up to distant and back to close-up, due to the proximity of small children, wet curious dogs and the ability of my camera. The concepts have changed little, but the various pieces chart the different stages of my life.
This Tableaux bowl is an amalgam of blowing and casting. It is inside cased and blown. Tableaux elements are then cast, added to the parison and then more gathers are used to build up the form. The piece is then puntied and opened up using heat to allow the glass to soften and follow the form. This creates an organic, tactile and completely unique piece.
