Coast

I have been lucky enough to visit Tresco on a few occasions and on the last it was February a few years ago now. I had been a little worried that the colours were not going to be that good - nobody wants a range of work that reminds them of the winter. However the first few days the weather was glorious and the colours were... inspirational. The views to the Eastern Isles were almost breathtaking - and nobody to spoil the view! Fabulous. My brother and his wife joined us for a few days and we happily walked around, me taking pictures, sketching, getting inspired and everyone generally marvelling at our good fortune. The range would just have a single parameter - it had to evoke Tresco and the Scilly Isles. On return I decided to start blowing on the Sunday and just see where I would go, making the same design all week, experimenting with colours and forms. On the Friday I stopped and had a look at all the pieces. Just like sketching.

I still take pictures of bands of colour, the Somerset levels, The isle of Arran with its golden stones and green tinged water, recently Ness cove near Teignmouth was amazing. But still the initial colours of the beautiful seas and skies of the Isles of Scilly underpin this whole range.
