Langfest, Langport's brand new festival will be kicking off on Friday the 15th of September, and we're participating at Shakspeare Glass. Will Shakspeare will be demonstrating making pieces from our Somerset Range and talking about his inspiration and love of the levels, as well as our studio, gallery and coffee shop being open as usual. Upstairs in Great Western House, Ashar will be talking to visitors and will also have her studio open showing what she's been working on recently. Ashar is an abstract artist who has recently had work featured in the Royal Academy Summer Show in London. Spiral Path book studio have recently moved to the building all the way from New Zealand, and will also be talking to...
We have some pieces from our Coast range now on the website - have a look at them and read Will's thoughts here. The Coast range is inspired by a design brief Will did for a exhibition in the Isles of Scilly. We made a number of pieces that were inspired by Will's visits to the island, and we were really pleased with the results! We've started making them in all our standard sizes and shapes (as well as baubles) which you can buy in our Langport Gallery - where there's also a limited few in sunset colours. More pieces should come to the website soon.
Boats are being restored to the River Parrett! The Duchess of Cocklemoor, an old ferry boat from Devon, was launched from our car park last week with around 200 people watching. The aim is to convert her to solar power and go into use as a ferry service around the Langport stretch of the river - we're looking forward to seeing how she turns out.
